Inverter-Charger Installation
in Long Beach

An inverter-charger does what it sounds like — inverts DC to AC when you're off-grid, and charges your battery bank when you're plugged into shore power. One unit, two jobs, automatic switching. For builds that regularly use both shore power and solar, it's the cleaner solution.

Voltara Systems installs inverter-chargers for vans, RVs, semi-trucks, boats, and specialty vehicles in Long Beach, CA.

How It Works in Practice

Plugged In

Shore power passes through to your outlets and simultaneously charges the battery bank. Full AC power available, bank topped off.

Unplugged & Moving

Automatically switches to inverter mode. Draws from the battery bank. No manual switching, no gap in power to your appliances.

Solar Integration

Solar connects through a separate charge controller. All sources — solar, shore, alternator — configured to work together without conflict.

Matching It to Your System

The inverter-charger needs to be matched to your battery chemistry — lithium vs. AGM charge profiles are not the same. It also needs to be matched to your battery bank capacity and your expected shore power input amperage. We configure all of this before commissioning.

A unit specified and configured wrong will either undercharge the bank or overload the inlet breaker. Neither is a good outcome on the road.

Frequently Asked Questions

For most builds — yes. Fewer components, cleaner wiring, automatic transfer switching, and usually better value at equivalent specs. The exception is very large or complex systems where separate units give more configuration flexibility.

Yes, but solar typically connects through a separate charge controller, not through the inverter-charger's AC input. We design the system so all charging sources work together without conflict — solar, shore power, and alternator can all run simultaneously.

We work with quality brands suited to mobile applications. We'll recommend the right unit for your build — not the most expensive one on the shelf. Brand matters less than having the right specs for your actual system.
