DC split AC systems are reliable. But when one stops working — or stops working well — the cause isn't always obvious. Electrical fault, refrigerant issue, failed component, installation problem from day one. Finding the actual cause before replacing parts is what separates a proper diagnosis from an expensive guess.
Voltara Systems troubleshoots and repairs DC air conditioning systems in vans, RVs, and specialty vehicles in Long Beach, CA.
Unit underperforms or shuts down under load — usually a wiring or fuse sizing problem from the original install. Common on third-party builds.
Never-cleaned condenser coils restrict airflow to the point the system can't maintain pressure. Common culprit in multi-year-old installs.
Leaks at fitting connections. We locate and repair the leak — not just recharge and leave you with the same problem six months later.
We start with the electrical supply — voltage at load, fuse condition, wiring integrity from the battery to the unit. Then we check the unit itself — operating pressures, coil condition, fan operation, control board function. We work systematically to the actual fault, not to the most expensive replacement.
Each fault has a different fix and a different cost — we tell you which before doing anything.

Most likely cause: low refrigerant from a slow leak, a dirty condenser coil restricting airflow, or a voltage drop issue causing the compressor to run below spec. All three are diagnosable — we'll find it.
Starting current draw — called inrush — is higher than running current. If it's tripping on startup, the fuse may be undersized, or the compressor may be failing and drawing excessive current at startup. We diagnose which before replacing anything.
Often a control board fault, a thermal cutout that hasn't reset, or a failed capacitor. These are all diagnosable and usually repairable without replacing the whole unit.
Yes. Bring us the problem, not the history. We diagnose based on what we find, not on assumptions about the original install.
Free diagnosis — no guessing, no unnecessary parts.
